Learning Advocates

Learning Advocates are employees in non-unionised companies who’ve been trained in information and advice skills in order to encourage and support colleagues into learning.

These are the basics of the Learning Advocate’s role

• Identifying colleagues learning needs.
• Providing information and advice about learning opportunities and different ways of learning.
• Helping to remove barriers to learning.
• Developing an awareness of local learning opportunities and other sources of advice and guidance.
• Gathering and organising learning information.
• Promoting a learning culture within the workplace by:
o Displaying information about learning opportunities.
o Displaying information about learning campaigns eg Adult Learners Week, Learning at Work Day. 
o Working with employers to plan and organise learning and skills programmes.
